On the 20th and 21st of April we participated at the 14th Global Banking Innovation Forum & Expo in Prague where we had the chance to connect with hundreds of participants from the payments industry and discuss industry trends with its leaders, innovators and disruptors.
Global Banking Innovation Forum & Expo is an annual event organized by Uniglobal, which brings together professionals in the banking and financial services industry to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and innovations in the sector. This year the conference gathered many banks and fintechs from all over the world, including JP Morgan Chase & Co., OTP Bank, Erste Group, Commerzbank, Mambu and others. Croatian fintech sector was represented by Vestigo and Robotiq.ai.
Our Chief Commercial Officer Domagoj Mandarić was the chairman of the conference together with Andrius Bičeika from Revolut. In their Fireside Chat “Future of Neobanks” they talked about sustaining hyper-growth in fintech, growth vs. efficiency, competition in highly competitive FS market and much more. They also addressed key ingredients for Revolut’s success in becoming global fintech super app.
Domagoj shared Vestigo’s insights during his presentation titled “Fundamental strategies for maximizing profitable growth in cards & payments” in which he explained how payments convergence is driving structural cost savings and improved customer experience. He also shared his knowledge on smart transformation of legacy systems and key success factors for winning market share through embedded finance partnerships.
Our Chief Product Officer Mario Nemet talked about Next Gen Payments as a panelist in the “Innovations in Payments” panel discussion together with participants from Home Credit International, Commerzbank, OTP Bank and Tietoevry. Lively discussion was focused on the evolution of payment instruments, new payment solutions and new key players in the sector. Panelists also shared their opinion on how traditional players are keeping pace with modern demand and concluded that the key to innovation is – collaboration.
The two-day Forum schedule was filled with keynote presentations, panel discussions, roundtable conversations and 1:1 meetings. Some of the discussed topics were responsibility and fraud prevention, disruptive market trends, future of payments, hiring in fintech sector and sustainability in finance industry.
